Family owned and operated. By far the best pizza and sandwiches in Maine. They baked their bread daily and the chicken salad is so good it will changed your life. If you're man enough, try the Nightmare.
They use real Pepperoni on their pepperoni pizza! You know the kind that curls up, small size, great flavor. Not that imitation stuff (i believe it is called pizza sausage in the industry) that has flooded the market in the last 15 years or so. All the the ingredients on the Pizza Joint menu are fresh (no canned slimy mushrooms) they make their own dough and sandwich rolls in house. The staff is friendly and lively. You can watch them toss the pizza dough while you wait.
There is no doubt in the fact that Pizza Hut's pizza and sandwiches are some of the best around. But, when they let the phone ring off the hook, even when I've been in there waiting for my own pie, I can see that they are busy but not busy enough not to pick up the phone. They also have a bad sense of delivery time, telling you 45 minutes showing up an a good 75 minutes later. One day I told them I would be leaving in just over an hour, they told me 35 minutes. I called at 45 wondering where the pie was, it came after an hours wait and I was on my way out the door. I had to refuse the delivery as I had no time to eat it. A few months later I get my pie delivered and on the sales receipt it was typed that, Customer refused pizza because it was 5 minutes late. ( I am not sure what kind of math they use but 35 minutes late does not equal 5 minutes late. ) Again, this does not take away from the quality of their wares.. they do a great job. But if they want to do better, pick up the phone, be accountable when you screw up, and don't put messages on your customers receipts that are not true, or even if they are... it's not good buisness. ( I don't think Al, the owner knows about that stuff. )
